Loikkaa: valikkoon, hakuun

Very few people that embark on losing weight are successful on their first try. There is a lot of information out there and most people find it difficult to sort through everything. There are some sources that say cardio is a great way to burn off calories and fat. There are others that swear by the resistance training philosophy. Since muscle burns a lot more calories than fat, building muscle through resistance training is something that is truly gaining popularity. There are other sources for weight loss that encourage strict eating plans without any exercise at all. Ever so often there are some fad diets that come along. Those are the kind that offer quick results, but aren't necessarily healthy. Fad diets prey on those that are desperate for quick results but don't have the ability to work out and carefully monitor what they eat. Obviously I know my physical limitations. When I designed my own workouts in the gym I had to be extremely careful with movements and form. This is far more important than you may think. The proper form of any exercise is everything, period. The farther you go with this program the stronger you will become. You just have to keep telling yourself you can do it. To quote Jillian herself from the program, "You got this. You have no idea how strong you are." And in my case it's proving to be true. I may have to modify here and there, but I'm still completing the 30 minutes.

During days 11-20, I alternated between the level 1 workout and the level 2 workout. The level 2 workout of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is a huge jump in intensity and difficulty from level 1. I was completely surprised, however, how quickly my body adapted to the level 1 workout. While completing level 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is still difficult, it has become remarkably easier. So I decided to alternate between levels 1 and 2. So far, level 2 still really kicks my butt every time! My legs and arms feel like jell-o and I am dripping with sweat in my 64 degree house after each workout on level 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.

It scares me because I think people will go try to work out like they see these guys doing on these TV shows because they saw the trainers pushing these clients to the limit. The novice person in the gym might hurt themselves by doing what they think is okay from watching these shows. When in actuality that limit looks like death to me. But what happens when these people push themselves and end up having a heart attack? Please don't do that on my time! Like I said, I know CPR but I don't want to perform it.

We may be losing Jillian on TV but we will still see Jillian online. There is a diet that Jillian runs that includes lots of stuff like personalized eating plans, exercise plans tailored to you, and lots of tips and tricks for getting your head in the right place so that you can make sure that even after you lose the weight that you will not gain it back.

Another contestant, Shay Sorrells, competed in Biggest Loser: "Second Changes Season 8". Subway was following Shay's progress and was offering her $1,000 for every pound Shay might lose after the finale. Shay went from 304 pounds down to 252 pounds and Subway was out of $52,000. Jillian Michaels' program worked well for Shay too. Her fame isn't over though as Subway has offered her a chance to double the $52,000 if she will train and participate in a marathon by the conclusion of this year. If she keeps following what she has learned, it would seem that this would be the continuation of a dream of a lifetime for her.

My struggle was recovering from anorexia and ending my relationship with emotional eating. I'm motivated to be in the business I'm in because I don't want other women to suffer from negative self-talk, low self-esteem, and chronic dieting. I want women to heal their relationship with food and learn to love their bodies. Jillian Michaels, world-famous personal trainer, struggled with being overweight as a teen and turned her life around. Now she's got a body that's the envy of millions of women, she was a star trainer on NBC's The Biggest Loser, and she's helping other people end their struggle with being overweight. We're both on different playing fields, but we're both motivated by our past and wanting other people to get the results that we've gotten in record time. It's all about creating the map and the directions so that other people won't get lost and won't struggle for as long as we did.
