In the course of an actor's life he is likely to meet a lot of people. Several people could have a direct or indirect impact on his job. Some, way more than the others.

Possibly the person who could have the biggest effect on the career of an actor is his representative. Love 'em or hate 'em, agents are difficult to live without. By definition an agent is somebody who finds work for an actor at a price of about 10 to fifteen minutes of whatever he earns for that work. But an agent is a lot more than that in fact. An agent could be the actor's mouthpiece. He's usually the one who tries to display the actor in perfect light through his own attraction. Agencies have to be very good talkers and have personalities which can be simple to get along with. As an agent they'll have an extensive set of contacts from suppliers to owners. They utilize this number to get every possibility to an actor that they possibly can. And then after the actor gets the job the representative works on the conditions of there, their, the commitment to ensure he gets the best deal possible. A great agent may have the actor's needs in your mind, understanding that the better the deal he makes, the better he makes out as well.

Then there is the casting director. That person could make or break an actor's career. If an actor can't see through the casting director he has no opportunity. Casting directors are specifically hired to locate talent for the film, display or play, whichever the case may be. Here is the agent's first type of contact. They're the people the agent sends pictures and resums to. They are the people the actor auditions for. Without passing the audition with the casting director, an actor doesn't have opportunity to satisfy the next people in line who will determine whether he's planning to obtain the job.

After that we've the actor's manager. A manager has a slightly different role compared to actor's agent, though there are several similarities in the tasks they perform. Both work for the actor with the actor's desires in your mind. A director will essentially try to find the actor work, give advice to him and try to guide his career. The actor may be encouraged by him to tell others to be avoided by him and try for certain roles. A realtor can also do the same, but he's more concerned with getting the agreement. Administrators seem more at the big picture and longterm job compared to daily operations. Administrators are the ones who provide their face to the actor that they can show to people.

Finally, there's the producer. A producer is the one who manages all the behind the scenes details of a production. They gather the actors, owners and writers and attempt to make it all work, notwithstanding the many different personalities involved.
