All 32 groups have played one match each whilst the World Cup has begun in explosive style, but are things going based on plan for the favourites or are the underdogs having a claim in actions? This is a short round-up of Groups A to D, of the outcomes while they stand after one match.

Party A

1. Germany 3pts, 2. Ecuador 3pts, 3. Costa Rica 0pts, 4. Poland, 0pts

Germany kicked off the tournament any way you like by having an entertaining 4-2 win against Costa Rica at odds of 1/4. Complete straight back Phillip Lahm won a great target after six minutes to break the deadlock but frequent Paulo Wanchope levelled on 12. Miroslav Klose netted twice on 17 and 61 before Wanchope hauled his side back into the overall game 3-2 down. Victory was ensured by torsten Frings for the host nation three minutes from time.

Poland were the subjects of a surprise result as Ecuador won at odds of 10/3. The least ranked of all of the South American sides took the lead through Tenorio after 24 minutes before former Southampton striker Augustin Delgado scored another with 10 minutes remaining.

England fought in heat against Paraguay but acquired three vital points as they beat their South American opponents 1-0. Carlos Gamarra headed in David Beckhams free end in to their own net after three minutes as England clung onto a gain at probability of 8/13.

Sweden were likely to brush away an Trinidad & Tobago side and the Caribbean side also had a person sent off early in the next half. But Leo Beenhakkers area showed incredible heart and held company for a draw at 7/2. eminem

As both Holland and Argentina beat their opponents at odds on the 2 favourites had their own way in the opening round of fixtures. Both Mexico and Portugal faced likely weaker opponents in the very first round of matches and duly obliged at odds on. Omar Bravo opened the score for Mexico after 28 minutes but Iran levelled through Yahya Golomohammadi on 36. With the match looking to complete all square Bravo netted another on 76 and Zinha secured an 8/13 win 3 minutes later.

In one of the World Cups more political matches, Portugal edged past Angola by a single purpose. Firm 1/2 favourites before kick-off, Portugal took the lead through talismanic striker Pauleta after four minutes but couldnt find any more as they managed to take all three points.
