Yes that's right. There are Siege Weapons (SWs) in Guild Wars 2. It's kind of tough to take on a huge ass brick fortress with nothing but your puny little sword so Guild Wars 2 has implemented Siege Weapons. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing castles and fortress being taken down by huge SWs (currently thinking of Lord of the Rings now!), so here is a little guide about what siege weapons are and how to build them.

Siege Weapons 101

Siege weapons are huge weapons used to deal massage amounts of damage to players, gates and walls. These are expensive to build and easy to destroy, but they can unleash a damn lot of death and destruction to unsuspecting players. To get started, you'll want to visit the Siege master at your spawn point. There you can buy Blueprints for gold or Badges of Honor or Karma. If you don't know what Badges of Honor and Karma is, I suggest you take a look at some Guild Wars 2 Strategy Guides.

Once you have the blueprint, you must go to where you want the weapon deployed. A built site will shortly appear after you do this and you have to bring the necessary supplies in order to start building your siege item!

There are six siege carts in the game, each have their own role and purpose so choose wisely on which one to get. It's important to learn what each one does before heading out to World-vs-World because you can get completely demolished if you're not aware of them!

Alpha Siege Golem

(Requires Gold or 40 Badges of Honor || 100 Supply)

These awesome machines are the most expensive Siege Items you can get. And it is the ONLY siege cart that can be relocated.

The cool thing with these is that you can "mount" into the golem and control the beast yourself while inside of it. So if your Siege cart dies, so will you and you will be downed. On top of that, it moves very slowly, slower than players in fact and it cannot be healed. It can Punch walls, Whirling Assault (an AoE attack to push enemies away from the gate), Shield Buddle (to protect it from damage or oil attacks). and Pull which drags an enemy to its clutches!

The 100 supply is a big amount in Guild Wars 2 though, so be sure you use your supplies wisely!

Ballista

(6 Silver or 3 Badges of Honor || 20 Supply)

This weapon is another person killing machine. It also has anti-siege capabilities. Unlike other items, the Ballista actually requires a target to attack, so you have to take note of its deployment position. It's best used to take out enemy siege tanks since it requires a target to attack. Definitely one of the more useful and convenient ones in the game

Arrow Cart

(Requires 4 Silver or 2 Badges of Honor || 30 Supply)

A nifty SW that is an anti-personnel weapon, that is, it is best used to defend chose points and push enemies away from gates. It can cast arrow cart, crippling arrows and barbed arrows. It does most of its damage against players (not structures), so be wary of when and where you deploy this siege cart.

Catapult

(8 Silver or 4 Badges of Honor, 50 Supply)

Catapult! This is the most common siege item and considered an all-purpose siege weapon. The catapult is capable of shooting down players, thick walls, city gates, NPCs and even other weapons. Furthermore, it has a much larger target area compared to that of an arrow cart. Only setback is that it only does moderate damage. But it has good wall damage though.

Trebuchet

(16 Silver or 8 Badges of Honor || 100 Supply)

These are like catapults but have longer range. They can also cause light to medium damage, so creating lots of them to take down enemies is a good strategy if you want to diversify your point of attack. A great way to break down walls! And it can deal heavy damage to structures and moderate damage to people. It also has the ability to cause poison clouds, which severely depletes an opponent's health. Definitely useful!

Siege Weapon Placement - Very Important!

SW is very important. If you place them on wrong locations, you can definitely lose them to enemies!

Where you place your cart is very important. You'll need to world to supply "Supply" to it, so make sure it is a valuable resource otherwise you've just wasted yours and the teams time. There is only a limited amount of supply in the Keeps and Towers so choose your weapon wisely and don't overdo them.

Remember supply also needs to be used to repairs walls as well so keep this into consideration when you're out there trying to build 50 million catapults.
