Loikkaa: valikkoon, hakuun

It seems that Google has been proposed unseat the other company with the launch of his new handset, the Google Nexus 4, a terminal built with the help of the Korean LG. Like the Nexus 7, combine with a design quite spectacular and a hardly comparable potency. Best, a little exorbitant price. Gather air, fasten your seatbelts because we started!

Hardware

If anything stands is flagship Google is, precisely, by his internal components, then you can appreciate a "little" list of the most noticeable features of the device.

Design

Undoubtedly, the new design makes the difference, it seems that Google and the manufacturer chosen to carry out the terminal, are exceeded in every new model, showing something different to what has been seen and leaving the new Nexus 4 (Nexus phone) with a finish and a exquisite work. His rounded edges, curved screen in the side and rear glass material, get together, dress of glamor and quality. Focusing on the management, we do not find any difficulty, and that is, despite its 4.7 inches and 139 grams of weight is very manageable, perhaps, his thinness and softness in the materials used get, much to our regret, that falls the ground.

On the front side we can find a 4.7 inches True HD IPS Plus display with a 1280x768 resolution covered with Gorilla Glass technology 2, plus the sensors, the headset for calls and a 1.3 megapixel camera which can make our video-calls easier. That´s it on the front side, did you expect anything else? well, the LG team thought it was convenient to move all physical buttons to the sides of the phone so they can leave the front side free for full interaction with the touch screen.

If we look at the left side of the device, we can find the micro-SIM card slot and the volume control, with very nice chrome details. On the top of the phone, the already classic 3.5mm headphone jack and a microphone for aditional noise reduction. On the right side, we find the block screen button wich also is used for turning on-turning off the device. Finally, at the bottom, besides a couple of screws, we can find the micro-USB connector and the main microphone for making calls.

We got to the back of the device, where we see a big change compared to the Nexus range of years ago. It has an 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash, the main speaker placed vertically and also has the screen of Nexus and LG's own in a striking bright metal finish. It´s notable that the casing is not removable, therefore, it is necessary to unscrew the screws if we want to get into the depths of this "beast".

The most amazing of his back is, undoubtedly, the soft touch of glass and the effect that the manufacturer has added an effect reminiscent to the classic lines of Original Nexus. It will be necessary exposure to light in order to appreciate these details that many will serve to disguise small scratches or scrapes, and many others, to show off the design of your new Smartphone Nexus Phone.

Screen

As you know, the Nexus 4 wears a True HD IPS Plus display of 4.7 inches, protected by Gorilla Glass technology 2. As if this were not enough, the device has an extra technology, developed by LG which allows placing touch sensors in the upper layers of the touch panel, getting greater resolution and improved thickness reduction. The Google´s "little beast" has a resolution of 1280x768 pixels and a density of 320 dpi that distributes his pixel RGB matrix, not bad, right? The result is a clarity, sharpness and viewing angles worthy of the best terminal in market to date.

In terms of color and saturation is hard to find any drawback, because the blacks are very strong despite forcing viewing angles, while whites do not stand out as much as on screen with Super AMOLED technology. The Nexus 4 get show truer colors to the human eye.

Software

As couldn't be expect less with the arrival of a new Nexus, the Android version is updated to bring us Jelly Bean 4.2, despite maintaining the designation Jelly Bean, has many interesting additions and improvements. The key difference in Android 4.2, is a new notification bar, divided into two separate sections, one for terminal announcements (email, social media mentions, screenshots, etc.) all with his pre-visualization to more Nexus 7 pure style. Also, by other side, the device has a new configuration menu, from which we can manage tools like screen brightness, activation of WiFi, Bluetooth or Airplane mode, besides the use of 3G and a shortcut to the settings internal device.

As previously was rumored months ago, the latest version of Google's operating system comes with multi-user support, in order that everyone can access your own portfolio of applications, games, settings and manage of their own files . Additionally, from the lock screen we can introduce many widgets to enter, for example, camera, calendar, address book, etc., such that we have the important information at hand. Without forgetting another important aspect, improved keyboard, a new and improved keyboard supports Swype-style gesture and provides a much improved striking feature of predictive text.

Camera and Multimedia

Recall that last Galaxy Nexus offered a 5-megapixel main camera, this time the Nexus 4 increases this number to 8 megapixels.

We aren't in front of the best camera in an Android smartphone market, but it certainly meets his objectives in a notable way. Often, we tend to think that the quality of a camera is measured in the number of megapixels that supports this is not entirely true, as it will depend on several factors, such as the camera optics. No doubt that has taken a big leap in what is referred photographs, achieving brilliant results and very attractive. Maybe we missed it in some photographs saturation and lower noise in pictures taken at night.

The LED flash is in the same position as in other high-end Android devices, it seems that recently some manufacturers are governed by some kind of standard when placing their cameras and flashes.

At this moment, we should do a brief look at the app that manages the terminal chamber. We noticed a big change in this version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, because the interface has been completely renovated, giving it a more minimalist style and based on three key elements: the shutter in the center of the screen, a key that allows access modes of camera, video, panoramic or Photo Sphere, all from a dropdown menu. His third button allows access to general camera configurations. To access this menu will suffice a simply click from the icon itself or by making a long press anywhere on the panel. Once activated, appear around our fingers the options, just drag your finger to the desired option.

¨Probably this is a pretty ridiculous change, however, over time and usage, manages to convince anyone, making easy many tasks and saving time. A comparison of the other terminals of the Nexus family, found only HDR mode, white balance and some other scene. It has also removed the shortcut to the photo gallery, but be calm down, enough with a lateral simple gesture to access it.

Performance and autonomy

A such awaited section, inside the Nexus Phone beats a PRO S4 Snapdragon four cores processor with a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz, accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 320 graphics processor. The sum of these components brings a terminal that offers a quick response and more exquisite fluidity at multitasking. (The terminal has been tested running in the background of a game that requires plenty of memory and at sametime editing a video, their response has been amazing to see his fluency and ease with which has unfolded).

However, autonomy is the weak point of Google's beast, as you know, its 2100 mAh (battery that at beggining, is more than enough to hold an entire day without charging the device), leaves much to be desired. We found an average of 8 hours working with the screen brightness at half and running WiFi or 3G. Imagine if we play, listen to music or simply reproduce a movie in HD. Even so, in days which has a less intensive use, has been get to reach the 14 hours of battery life.
